Ego should not be considered evil — it’s part of us

What I don’t understand in most self-help books I’ve read so far is they considered “ego” as evil and the root cause of disorder that’s affecting your life.

We must take note though that our ego represents our individuality, our uniqueness. If you take that out of the equation, then only the “self” or oneness would be left behind. The “self” is capable of understanding, but the “ego” does not. Because its role is to represent individual.

I guess the clue the self-help books are conveying is that, we need to take charge and control our ego. It exists for a reason, and you can’t take that out of the equation. But you can neutralise it, by doing daily meditations.
